"Oh, don’t you cry, look—
You and me. One day.
Just the sun and that snow,
Let’s play the fairy tale again.
But as the moment came,
I melt away."
I met someone, many years ago. Hanging out with him was like a fairy tale— a very exciting one. Like a fairy tale set on a roller coaster. Hot and cold, gentle and turbulent, lots of ups and downs. It was exhilarating. The only thing missing was the happily ever after, I guess.
Despite the strong initial attraction, it didn’t take long to realize (well, one person realized far earlier than the other person) that our relationship wasn’t based upon reality. We had both created our own versions of each other: an imaginary boyfriend/girlfriend who possessed personality traits and ideals based upon our own whimsical fantasies concocted in our heads. I was always pretending when I was with him—- I convinced myself that I adored him for who he was, but actually, I couldn’t see who he truly was through my own selfish fabrication of who I wanted him to be.
He would tell me not to cry, and we would dance across the studio floor while the snow sparkled outside. I’d still be sobbing inwardly, but outwardly showing a smile.
All we needed was some more heat, another spark to keep things interesting between us.
But as soon as the heat of the sunlight came, I melted away.

I wrote the above poem in January. It was made by cutting up the lyrics to Frosty The Snowman and rearranging them lol. See the photo below! It was a fun little assignment from the local writing club I’m part of, called HelloWriter, from the company FireFly Creative Writing. Check them out here!

Thanks so much !!
Love this! So raw. So real.
